The Madras Paper Merchants Association(MPMA), one of the oldest associations in the country is currently celebrating the 65th year of its inception. Founded in 1944, it is still guided by the vision of its founding members (ie), to protect the interest of all its members.
The association has strength of 230 members and is still growing. The association gives the members an equal opportunity to participate in the trade. It attempts to regulate the trade, represent its members at govt. and trade forums and acts as the voice of members by conveying their concerns and grievances there.
The MPMA is one of the most active constitutent of the Federation of Paper Traders Associations of India (FPTA). As a senior constitutent of the FPTA our responsibilities include steering to adopt measures at a national level to protect the interest of the trade and to adopt a near uniform credit policy. This symbiotic interaction with the FPTA helps each other to become aware of new products, players, import scenario , local market conditions and adopt best practices available to the collective intelligence.
The MPMA engages with manufacturers and consumers on a regular basis. These interactions not only provide a platform for expressing expectations from each other but also provide an opportunity to evolve a consensus on broad ranging issues.
The MPMA also serves as a notice board for disseminating information to its members regarding change in government policies, import and export laws, local production ,import scenario. It also helps in protecting the interest of its members by publishing and updating a RED BOOK , that mentions the details of unscrupulous elements that have caused financial injury to the members and cautions the other members not to fall prey to their designs in the future.
